After Your Surgery

Because of the effects of the anesthesia and your surgery, it is necessary that you have someone accompany you home and be with you.

Once your surgery is completed you may feel a bit groggy. This is not unexpected. All efforts will be made to maintain your comfort.
A member of the nursing staff will advise you when you may leave the Center following surgery.
Do not drive. The sedation you receive before and during surgery prevents you from driving for the next 24 hours. You should also refrain from making any legal decisions.
Written instructions regarding postoperative care will be given to you when leaving the Center concerning diet, exercise and other activities. Your nurse will review these with your before leaving. Be sure to consult your physician regarding any medication and follow up appointments.
